چکیده

This paper extends and generalizes the Bayesian semisupervised segmentation algorithm [1] for oil spill detection using SAR images. In the base algorithm on which we build on, the data term is modeled by a finite mixture of Gamma distributions. The prior is an Mlevel logistic Markov Random Field enforcing local continuity in a statistical sense. The methodology proposed in [1] assumes two classes and known smoothness parameter. The present work removes these restrictions. The smoothness parameter controlling the degree of homogeneity imposed on the scene is automatically estimated and the number of used classes is optional. Semi-automatic estimation of the class parameters is also implemented. The maximum a posteriori (MAP) segmentation is efficiently computed via the α-expansion algorithm [2], a recent graph-cut technique, The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated with simulated (Gaussian or Gamma data term and M-level logistic classes) and real ERS data.

Bayesian Adaptive Oil Spill Segmentation of Sar

This paper presents a new Bayesian supervised segmentation algorithm aimed at oil spill detection in SAR images, a crucial step in any SAR based automatic oil spill surveillance system. The data term, i.e., the density of the observed amplitudes given the region, is modeled as a finite mixture of Gamma distributions. This renders robustness to backscattering fluctuations inside each region. The...

Bayesian Segmentation of Oceanic SAR Images: Application to Oil Spill Detection

This paper introduces Bayesian supervised and unsupervised segmentation algorithms aimed at oceanic segmentation of SAR images. The data term, i.e., the density of the observed backscattered signal given the region, is modeled by a finite mixture of Gamma densities with a given predefined number of components. To estimate the parameters of the class conditional densities, a new expectation maxi...

SAR Image Segmentation Using Voronoi Tessellation and Bayesian Inference Applied to Dark Spot Feature Extraction

This paper presents a new segmentation-based algorithm for oil spill feature extraction from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) intensity images. The proposed algorithm combines a Voronoi tessellation, Bayesian inference and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) scheme. The shape and distribution features of dark spots can be obtained by segmenting a scene covering an oil spill and/or look-alikes into tw...

Oil spill detection using in Sentinel-1 satellite images based on Deep learning concepts

Awareness of the marine area is very important for crisis management in the event of an accident. Oil spills are one of the main threats to the marine and coastal environments and seriously affect the marine ecosystem and cause political and environmental concerns because it seriously affects the fragile marine and coastal ecosystem. The rate of discharge of pollutants and its related effects o...

Unsupervised multiscale oil slick segmentation from SAR images using a vector HMC model

This study focuses on the segmentation and characterization of oil slicks on the sea surface from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observations. In fact, an increase in viscosity due to oil notably reduces the roughness of the sea surface which plays a major part in the electromagnetic backscattering. So, an oil spill is characterized by low-backscattered energy and appears as a dark patch in a S...
